Army Cadet Force withdrew to be replaced by Taliesin; Llanilar withdrew
League competitions declared void in early May 1947.
Gwyn Jenkins book 'The History of the Aberystwyth & District Football League 1934-1984' summed it up as follows:-
"On 26 April, Y.M.C.A. beat Padarn United 4-1 at Park Avenue in the semi-final of the League Cup, but Padarn protested that the Y.M. had fielded 'senior' players. Rule 38 of the League's rules stated that a player 'must not be a regular member of a Senior Team (i.e. a team playing in any Senior Competition) during the current season' and Padarn claimed that as Alfie Sandford, Jimmy Fisher Davies and Len Evans had signed for senior teams they were ineligible to play for Y.M.. The League rejected this claim as being 'frivolous' but, undaunted, Padarn officials travelled to Shrewsbury to put their case before the Football Association of Wales Appeals Board.
The F.A.W., in its usual insensitive manner, upheld Padarn's appeal, stating that any player having signed a form for any team competing in a senior competition was ineligible to play in the District League. In effect, this meant that a large percentage of 'junior' players were ineligible as they had signed forms for Aberystwyth or other' senior' teams, though they may not have kicked a ball for them all season.
The League committee decided that it had no alternative but to declare the League and cup competitions void, despite a last minute attempt to persuade the F.A.W. to reconsider its decision. Ironically, Padarn United. had also fielded a 'senior' player in the semi-final against the Y.M. "
"Technically, the F.A.W. was doubtless correct in its decision but it took little account of the spirit of the game. The Cambrian News was scathing in its criticism: 'The F.A.W. are defeating the whole object of fostering junior football', while League officials wondered how many players in the Welsh Youth Cup Final were eligible, as many Cardiff Nomads and Wrexham Victoria players had been signed by Football League clubs.
Later, the Cambrian News reported: 'It was the first time in the history of the League that the season's competitions could not be finished and at one time there was more talk on Aberystwyth street corners about the junior league than the 'atomic bomb'.' It was generally considered that the fault lay with one club and the F.A.W. and that the League's officials were blameless, but during the summer new rules were drafted which it was hoped would finally solve the 'senior player' problem. It was also decided to drop the name 'junior' and the League now became known as the 'Aberystwyth and District Football League'. "
